The education in the Dominican Republic is at a critical moment due to the low levels of educational quality and the corruption endemic that has turned the social conquest of the 4% for the education in a reprehensible evil, according to the bishop of the diocese of Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia, Monsignor Jesús Castro Marte.

Castro Martes pointed out that the lack of security is one of the several challenges facing the education Dominican. “For example, in Higüey there are only six permanent school police officers and five additional ones, which shows that the security staff at school campuses urgently needs to be reinforced,” she said.

The bishop said that the violent acts that have been recorded in schools in different demarcations and that have been viralized through social networks do not represent all of them, but they are numerous and serious enough to generate concern among citizens. .

Castro Marte called on Dominican society to face the problems of the educational system and fight against social exclusion and the corruption. “If the alternative is indifference, we will remain in permanent paralysis and, meanwhile, the crisis of education will continue to reach new levels of depth,” he said.

The Diocese of La Altagracia raises its voice and makes a call to unite as a society to face the critical situation of the education in the Dominican Republic.
