Seven people died in a shooting at a birthday party at a private home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The police responded to a call around 12.18 local time, on their arrival the officers found six people dead, while another seriously injured person died later in hospital. The man suspected of having opened fire is said to be the boyfriend of one of the women among the victims. After shooting the party, the man took his own life. All the victims are adults, the children are all unharmed and have been entrusted to relatives.
“Today we find ourselves mourning the loss of life and solemnly praying for those who have been injured and for those who have lost family members in a senseless act of violence,” said Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers. said police chief Vince Niski – they are not enough to describe the tragedy that took place this morning. As police chief, as a husband, as a father, as a grandfather, as a member of this community, my heart breaks for the families who have lost someone they love and to the children who lost their parents. From the officers who responded to the shooting to the detectives still on the scene, we were all incredibly shocked. This is something you hope will never happen in your community, in the place you call home”.
