The discovery of two bodies on the Selegua bridge, in the jurisdiction of Santa Ana Huista, Huehuetenango, took place this Saturday, June 17, in the early hours of the morning, according to the authorities.

The Public Ministry (MP) reported that the Jacaltenango Prosecutor’s Office began investigations into the death of Sergio Ottoniel Montejo Lorenzo and Ana Leticia Villatoro Castillo.

After the first investigations, the prosecutor’s office revealed that approximately 300 ballistic evidence and a completely burnt-out pickup truck were located at the scene of the incident.

The two victims were shot to death and their bodies were charred, authorities confirmed.

A video that was recorded moments after the attack shows how the bodies were located, next to a vehicle still on fire.

Likewise, the MP reported that in the jurisdiction of La Democracia, of the same department, the discovery of two other bodies was also investigated this Saturday, June 17.

One of the deceased was identified as Jonathan Yordani Gómez López, while the other is presumed to be Saúl Cano.

“Provisionally, the hypothesis that the prosecution handles refers to the fact that the event derived from a discussion in a nearby palenque; however, the investigative procedures continue,” said the MP.

Added to these violent acts was another confrontation between peasants and guards from a farm in Barillas, Huehuetenango, on June 13, in which two people were killed.

The conflict escalated when peasants were walking over the bridge and, apparently, there was an argument that ended in violence.

The reaction of the farm guards, threatening with large-caliber weapons, was recorded on a video.
