The sky should thunder less violently this Monday in France. After the stormy deterioration on Sunday, orange vigilance was lifted by Météo-France in its last bulletin at 6 a.m.

However, the weather will still be unstable in many regions, forecasts Météo-France. On an axis stretching from New Aquitaine and Pays-de-la-Loire to Ile-de-France, Grand-Est and Burgundy via the Center region, some 63 departments are still in yellow vigilance mainly for thunderstorms.

The return of orange vigilance “is not excluded”

Storm bursts will therefore still occur. The strongest are expected during the afternoon, then in the evening, from the Center-Val-de-Loire region and Burgundy towards the German borders. Note the abrupt and rapid nature of these stormy degradations. Météo-France thus recalls that “uncertainties are very marked in terms of geographical targeting, as much as in terms of intensity. A rise in orange level of thunderstorm vigilance is not excluded. It will therefore be necessary to monitor any updates to vigilance during the day”.

On Sunday, a wave of thunderstorms crossed part of France, causing floods in Normandy and Ile-de-France, a mini-tornado, disruptions in train traffic and power cuts. In the afternoon, 44 departments had been placed on orange alert, from Hauts-de-France to the Southwest.
