This Tuesday, the French women’s team, led since March 30 by Hervé Renard, begins its preparation for the World Cup organized jointly by Australia and New Zealand (July 20 to August 20). This Monday evening, Didier Deschamps’ men will wear the girls’ away jersey during their warm-up against Greece, in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, as a sign of support for Wendie Renard’s partners.

For the record, on June 6, Hervé Renard announced the names of the 26 players selected for the preparation camp. Three players will leave the group before the start of the competition. There will be one goalkeeper (Chavas or Durand) less. For the rest, the choice will be made at the end of the preparation, from June 20 to July 7 in Europe, before leaving for Oceania where the Blues will be opposed, in the first round, to Brazil, Jamaica and Panama. The former coach of Saudi Arabia for men recalled Amandine Henry, an experienced midfielder thanks to 93 selections in Blue, banned under the Deacon era.

The art of Orphism

The white away jersey of the France team is adorned with a hand-painted pattern, cut in the shape of a hexagon. It recalls, like the one worn at home, the art of Orphism, an artistic movement popularized in the 1920s. An abstract and modern version of cubism, Orphism was not selected by chance by Nike, the equipment supplier FFF official. It was during this same period in history that the first “selection” of French players played their first international match against England.

Note that on both jerseys (home and away), the tricolor rooster is integrated into a shield.
