Delta pilot arrested before flight for being drunk

A Delta airline flight from Edinburgh, Scotlandto New York, USA, had to be canceled after the pilot was arrested at the airport for allegedly being drunk.

The scene took place on Friday the 16th. Delta Flight DL209 was due to depart Edinburgh for John F Kennedy International Airport.

The portal R7 reported that, around 10 am — 35 minutes before departure time — the pilot was detained at the airport. According to Scottish Police, he was arrested for breaching the Rail and Transport Safety Act 2003.

Delta has admitted to the incident and said it is working with investigators to establish the facts.

Police did not give details about the case of the pilot arrested before a flight for allegedly being drunk.

Under the Railway and Transport Safety Act, pilots must have a blood alcohol limit of up to 0.02. Drivers, for example, have a higher limit: 0.08.

In Scotland, a pilot who is caught drunk can not only lose his job, but also go to jail. The police did not give details about the circumstances of the aviator’s arrest.
