In the midst of a rarefied political climate due to the elections that were held this Sunday, where the governor Jorge Capitanich fell defeated before the summation of opposition votes, the new lawyer from the family of Cecilia StrzyzowskiGustavo Briend, focused on the cause of the alleged femicide of the young woman from Chaco in the hands of the Sena clan gain speed and show the progress that has not been given since the young woman disappeared, on June 1. Among them, that the calls that the Sena made after the last time Cecilia was seen alive are known. “There are supposed to be calls to power,” said the lawyer.

There is the list of calls, there are the reports of the telephone cells, there is the coverage, there is everything”, said Briend, interviewed by TN, at a time when Cecilia’s mother, Gloria Romero, led a “pink” march in the Resistencia center demanding justice for her daughter. “She wants speed and information sharing”, insisted the lawyer, who took on the complaint together with Juan Arreginto remember that the case continues for almost a week under summary secret.

2014: the marriage of Emerenciano Sena and Marcela Acuña; next to him César Sena and Jorge Capitanich

There is plenty of evidence of personal, political and economic contacts with Capitanich of the clan led by Emerenciano Sena and his wife, Marcela Acuña, parents of Cesar Acuna, the husband of Cecilia Strzyzowski. The governor was best man at the wedding of the piquetero leaders and prefaced a book by the leader, which only in 2023 received 141 million pesos from the province. In addition, Sena, Acuña and other detainees in the case registered as ruling party candidates in the elections this Sunday, although later the PJ decided to eliminate its presence in the dark room.

Hence the interest in knowing who did they contact after the moment in which the investigation indicates that Cecilia was murdered. According to the prosecution, this happened at the couple’s house in Resistencia. The body would then have been dismembered, transferred to another place and cremated. Hours after Cecilia disappeared, 10 Sena clan cell phones were taken offline under different excuses: theft, loss, breakage and wetting, as reported. “There is the list [de llamadas] and we can probably recover some messages”, affirmed the plaintiff lawyer.

Gustavo Briend, Cecilia’s family’s new lawyer.

Beyond the limitation imposed by summary secrecy, Briend took for granted what was revealed from the outset by sources in the case. “There is compelling evidence that proves the participation of the Sena clan in the murder of Cecilia”he affirmed, to point out that the complaint does not rule out requesting new arrests from the last movements of the cause.

He also sent a call to action to the investigators. “It seems to all of us that there were delays in the proceedings [de los primeros días]. It’s like this entire clan was given advantages,” he assailed.

The news of the case did not end there. The new lawyer for Cecilia’s family, who replaced the young woman’s aunt in the case, Karina Gómez, who had denounced threats and pressure, affirmed that this Tuesday the family could have contact with the clothes, a suitcase with wheels and other belongings that were found this Sunday, burned, in the Emerenciano Sena neighborhood. “Everything indicates that it could be Cecilia’s belongings,” she said. “I think the rings are from my daughter,” Gloria Romero had said this Sunday.

By decision of Special Prosecutor Team (EFE)made up of Jorge Cáceres Olivera, Jorge Gómez and Nelia Velásquez, the remains of the suitcase, clothes, two rings and a key are appraised at the headquarters of the Institute of Medicine and Forensic Sciences (IMCiF), located on national route 11, kilometer 1008 of the city of Resistencia. “We ask that a public hearing be established in which the defense attorneys participate so that the elements can be exhibited and recognized or not by Gloria”Briend and Arregin stated this Monday.

Judicial spokesmen assured that a locksmith from Banco Nación could be summoned to confirm whether the found key may have been intentionally modified. Otherwise, the possibility of testing it on a door usually used by Cecilia would be evaluated.

The complaint also referred to the traumatic and delayed transfer of César Sena from the police station where he was detained with his parents. During the day, they discussed sending him to a police station in the community of La Verde and another in Charadai. But the protest of the neighbors in La Verde and the fact that Cecilia’s relatives live in Charadai frustrated the plans. In the end, as reported by Diario Norte, the 19-year-old was referred to the Sixth Police Station of Resistencia, where neighbors gathered tonight to reject his presence.

César Sena and Cecilia Strzyzowski, on their wedding day

The safety of César Sena was not at stake, who sent a new letter this Monday in which he asked to see the prosecutor and said: “I want this to end.” What was in question is that for days, the main suspects for Cecilia’s femicide were in the same building and presumably in contact, which could hinder the investigation. “Separating them was the first thing we asked the prosecution, because it seemed absurd to us,” Briend said.

César Sena also has new representation, after his first lawyer resigned, mentioning the existence of “strong” evidence against him. Local criminal Ricardo Osuna took over his defense. The complaint wants him to be present tomorrow if the prosecutors show the clothes and the suitcase and the charred rings to the family.

“We ask that a public hearing be established in which the defense attorneys participate so that the elements can be displayed and recognized or not by Gloria. We need this process to be as clear and legal as possible because we know that the defense strategy will be to annul the process and not seek the truth,” the complainants warned.
