Oviedo officially presented the season ticket holder campaign for the 2023/24 season and it was confirmed that the increase applied to prices will be 25%. Of course, the club opens the door for this increase to remain at 15% in case of accepting the renewal over the next three weeks, which is called pre-campaign. The objective is to improve the 20,300 subscribers of the last year and that these incomes help give a boost to the salary cap to facilitate the preparation of the squad. Oviedismo seems to have fitted the campaign model willingly and on the first day there were 1,502 new subscribers, which is the best figure in the club’s history.

“Apart from the fact that the cost of living has risen a lot, all the improvements that the club is making on all fronts are adding up,” explained Martín Peláez the price increase applied in this campaign. Taking for granted that decisions of this style are never well received and are often widely criticized, the president of the blue board of directors trusted the moderation of criticism: “We are asking our fans to understand us.” In addition, Peláez explained that from the Pachuca Group they always sought the minimum increase in prices: «The 15% increase, if it is done in the first three weeks, is an increase that shows the empathy of this property. We have worked hard so that the increase is 15% and not much more, we wanted to avoid that measure.

During the first three weeks of the campaign, which began yesterday, the cheapest season ticket will cost 114 euros, which would correspond to the Aramo area and whose number of places could be increased with the removal of the current video scoreboard. and the installation of the new ones; the most expensive subscription will reach 492 euros, which will cost the seats in the upper area of the Ería grandstand. From that moment, the prices of the cheapest area increase to 124 euros and the prices of the highest are maintained.

Javier Álvarez, the entity’s marketing manager, accompanied Peláez and was in charge of breaking down all the details and news of the campaign. Among them, some aspects related to the way of attending to the fans stand out. The club has enabled since yesterday an exclusive telephone number to answer questions (985 250 556), in addition there is a WhatsApp channel through 659 488 827 and also an email address: [email protected] Álvarez explained that although the first week is reserved for online transactions only, the intention of the club is to attend to all needs: “When the office opens, priority will be given to those over 65, gold and silver members and people with special needs” , the final objective is that “anyone who has not been able to access the online renewal should not have problems renewing”, but focusing on the initial message: “Whoever can do it online should do it and thus free up time for others”.

In the campaign presentation, there was time to use three real examples of season ticket prices in areas of the stadium with high occupancy rates. In the Lángara grandstand, a subscription that in the 2019-20 season, the last one without measures due to the covid, cost 350 euros, for this season it could cost 342 euros, if the discounts provided for seniority of more than 10 years were applied and the discount for renewal in the first three weeks.

If the subscription is located in the North Fund, the price in 2019/20 was 199 euros, for this course it would cost 219 euros, when only the renewal discount is applied in the first three weeks of the campaign.

A subscriber who is more than 30 years old and who is located in the Herrerita area, paid 380 euros in 2019 and will now pay 351 euros taking advantage of the seniority discount and also for early renewal.

In preparing the campaign, Oviedo wanted to bear in mind the demands of the most representative groups of the fans. The club held meetings with the directors of the Real Oviedo Peñas Azules Association (APARO) and also with those responsible for the North Fund. Both made requests that have been heard. As previously mentioned, the number of seats at a reduced price -those in the Aramo stand- will be increased and financial support will be maintained to cover the expenses generated by the transport service of the supporters clubs through the ‘Líneas Azules’, the club membership ticket will also remain in force.

From Fondo Norte the requests were focused on shortening the deadlines to maintain the location, while the members will have reserved the seat until August 8, in the case of the youngest it will be until July 5 and they have also requested that There is a minimum number of matches attended to be able to keep the season ticket in the zone. Finally, the club is studying the possibility of increasing the number of seats in the area to accommodate all the requests that remain outside the entertainment area.

Lastly, the club has worked with several of its sponsors so that season ticket holders can benefit from personalized offers for having the blue membership card. EL COMERCIO is one of the companies that has joined this promotion and offers Oviedistas the possibility of subscribing to the digital edition of the newspaper for one year by paying only two euros per month. In the near future, more companies are expected to join this type of promotion, which could be an added advantage for Oviedista fans.

In the end, the challenge for Oviedo is to be able to improve the records of the season that has just ended. Peláez recalled that they were over 20,300 subscribers in the last year and they hope to surpass them: “This is the zero year of the Pachuca Group and we are very excited that people accompany us and respond.” The challenge is not easy because the global economic situation is not easy either: “We know that the economic moment is not the best, that is why we have tried to offer a price that is not so high.” In addition, the team also needs warmth: “What motivates us the most is having our fans on the field.”

In this sense, the Oviedista president revealed that the entire club is working to encourage public attendance at the stadium: «We have 20,000 subscribers and the average attendance is 13,000 or 14,000. We are studying how to improve it, we are working on it. There are many fans who renew out of feeling and do not live here in Asturias. We are focused on that and we will work.”

What seems certain is that Oviedo will have an idea very close to its final number of partners when the competition starts, since the renewals should be produced en masse in the first three weeks of the campaign to take advantage of the advantages.
