More than two hundred dancers from 14 dance groups from Ioannina, Imathia, Pieria, Rhodope, Boeotia, Peloponnese and Crete were welcomed by the Municipality of Zitsa, on the two days of June 17-18, as part of the 1st traditional dance festival “Olympiada 2023” “, organized by the Public Benefit Enterprise of the Municipality of Zitsa.
The dancers, accompanied by live music, presented traditional dances, offering a magical spectacle to the attendees, especially on the second day of the event at the Town Hall Square in Eleussa, as on the first day of the two-day event, Saturday night, the event was held indoors due to bad weather conditions.
“It’s a lucky charm, because the organization will take root and become an institution for the Municipality”, said the mayor of Zitsa, Michalis Pliakos, and welcomed the participation of the dance departments of the guest clubs, which, together with the dance departments of the Public Benefit Enterprise of the Municipality of Zitsa, presented their excellent work through a unique journey into the cultural tradition of our homeland.
“A panorama of tradition, music and dance”, the president of the Public Benefit Enterprise of the Municipality of Zitsa Alcibiadis Votsikas characterized the festival and thanked both the participating dancers, musicians, dance teachers and members of the clubs, as well as the attendees who responded to the call.
The dance missions of the Dance Club of Gastouni and Surroundings “Terpsichori”, the Rumloukiot Home of Alexandria Imathia, the Association of Thessalians of Pieria “Georgios Karaiskakis”, the Cultural Association of Rhodope “Iasmos”, the Cultural and Folklore Organization “Kalarrytes”, the Cultural Orchomenos Association of Boeotia, the “Horokastrites” from Crete, the Association of Zagorisians of Ioannina, the Association of Syracuses of Ioannina, the Spiritual Center of the Municipality of Ioannina, the Cultural Association of Loutsas, the Educational Beautician Association of Neochoropoulos “Durouti”, the Brotherhood of Pontia and Microsia of Epirus, o Cultural Association of Katsikas and the dance troupe of the Community Benefit Enterprise of the Municipality of Zitsa.
The event was graced by the presence of the deputy regional governors Agni Nakou and Ilias Gartzonikas, the president of the Zitsa municipal council Panagiotis Liakos, the deputy mayor Katerina Balafa, the candidate MPs of the N.D. Elsa Exarchou and Spyros Konstantopoulos and of PASOK-KINAL Evangelia Mitsiu, the head of “Self-Governing Cooperation” and secretary of N.E. Ioannina PASOK-KINAL Vassilis Gardikos, the head of culture-sports DEEP N.D. Matina Pappa, municipal councilors, presidents of communities, representatives of parties, organizations and associations as well as a large number of people.
