Residents surrounded the area last Friday night and shot dead more than 30 people, including soldiers, women and children. Later, their bodies were dumped in vehicles and set on fire.

Officials from the Kareni Human Rights Commission said, “People from the village of Mo Cho fled to the refugee camp in the west to escape the fighting between the army and the rebel forces. Then, they were arrested by the soldiers and taken away. Later, they tied their hands and feet and shot them. Their bodies were put in vehicles, poured petrol and cremated. ‘ The sight of corpses being cremated in vehicles is spreading fast on social networking sites around the world. International organizations such as the United Nations and the United States and India have strongly condemned the atrocities committed by the Myanmar military. At the same time, some newspapers in Myanmar reported that all those killed were members of rebel forces opposed to the military.
