Technicians from the CNJ (National Council of Justice) responsible for the extraordinary correction in the Lava Jato courts analyze evidence of expenses of almost R$ 1 billion without proof.

The judges deployed to the action analyze documents and spreadsheets and listen to public servants’ testimonies to assess whether the work is regular.

Even with the changes in command of the 13th Federal Court of Curitiba, the audit will continue both in the first and in the second instance responsible for the operation.

As the column Panel, from Folha de S.Paulo revealed, Judge Gabriela Hardt had her request granted to be removed from an appeal panel. In her place, Fábio Nunes de Martino, from the 1st Federal Court of Ponta Grossa (PR), and substitute judge Murilo Scremin Czezacki, from the 2nd Federal Court of Cascavel.

The amounts under suspicion come from seized assets and leniency agreements. The agreements alone have moved around BRL 6 billion.

In addition to expenses, there are suspicions of minor infractions such as the improper allocation of amounts to the Judiciary, police and Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Initially, around BRL 300 million in judicial deposits made by Lava Jato determination were at the center of the extraordinary correction in the 13th Federal Court of Justice in Curitiba and the TRF-4 (Federal Regional Court of the 4th Region), responsible for the operation.

There was also the intention to evaluate with special attention the international cooperation agreements and the way in which the winning awards were conducted.
