At the beginning of May, the president of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of First Instance of the National District, Ingrid Fernández Méndez, assigned the Operation Anti-Octopus to the Second Collegiate Court, “by means of a random and computerized system”, according to Order number 503-2023-TAUT-00852.
On February 7, Judge Deybi Timoteo Peguero, of the Seventh Investigating Courtordered the opening of the trial on the merits of 21 of the 27 defendants in the corruption case that also involves more than twenty companies, many of which are from Alexis Medina Sanchez and that, likewise, they were ordered to proceed to trial.

Carlos Salcedo, that he was Medina’s lawyer, reported to Free Daily that he resigned a month ago, but that the defendant asked him to reconsider his decision.
Salcedo said that in this week he will decide if he resumes the work to represent Medina in court.
“If he finally satisfies or fulfills the obligations that he has with us as his defense attorney (…) It is a very particular situation, it is a question that has nothing to do with the case itself, quite the contrary, it is a case that I understand can be perfectly defensible by any lawyer,” said the renowned faculty of the Right.
The accused
The defendants are credited with conspiring to embezzle the State in the contracting of irregular works to the companies of the brother of former president Danilo Medina, which supplied the State with equipment and medicines for hospitals, as well as other institutions with a wide variety of supplies that included oil for asphalt, fuels, among others.

Among the companies linked are Domedical Supply, Fuel American Inc. Dominican SRL General Supply Corporations SRL, General Medical Solution AMSRL, Kyanred Supply SRL, Suim Mendez Institutional Suppliers, United Suppliers Corporations.
Also, Wattmax Dominicana SRL., WMI International SRL, Wonder Island Park SRL, Editorama SAS, Acorpor, SRL, Center for Comprehensive Reproductive Medicine and Feminine Care (Cemeraf), SRL, ICHOR OIL, SRL, Globus Electrical, Contratas Solution Services CSS, SRL, among others.
