For the first time since winning the Giro d’Italia, the Slovenian cyclist gave a press conference to clarify the objectives that await him in the second part of the season. There were no major surprises in the announcement.
Following logic, he completely ruled out his presence in the Big loop, for which he would arrive with wear and tear after the effort in Italy and where there is a well-positioned leader, one of the main candidates for victory. Thus, his new objective is the Tour of Spain.
For the Iberian round, he will prepare through training and concentrations at altitude, but he will not attend any previous competitive event such as Burgos or Poland. He repeats the formula with which he won his first red jersey, back in 2019.
By the way, that puts down the rumors that circulated in the last hours that he could compete in the Slovenian nationals, where Tadej Pogacar will also be. It goes without saying that the World Cup is not in his plans.
