Mr. Director

On the occasion of Mr. Takis Theodoropoulos’s comment, I submit the following: The usual results of the Panhellenic exams show very low performances in basic subjects.

Absurd gaps in students’ knowledge are identified compared to the projected requirements of the subjects. At the same time, serious consideration should be given to the minimum required knowledge for HEIs and the ability to smoothly attend scientific lectures and courses. In my time, the entrance examination was the responsibility of the universities, which is probably impossible today and the institution of tutoring preparation was almost non-existent. The simple finding is that Secondary Education either does not succeed in covering what is taught or those preparing the subjects to be examined ignore what is taught and what is required by the HEIs or finally the level of what is taught is very far from what is taught.

There is also the much-discussed issue of denying ratings! In any case, the first requirement is the continuous strict control of the course of the curriculum, internal to each school unit and permanent, coordinated for the territory. But of course, during the planning by the ministry in collaboration with the universities, the minimum limit of the appropriate preparation of the candidates should not be ignored, so that they can seamlessly follow the science they have chosen.
