Thirty sugar cubes, a total of 95 grams. That’s how much sugar people in Germany consume per person per day, in the form of lemonade, juices, sweets or ready meals – four times as much as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). And that’s just the sucrose you know from the sugar packs in the supermarket. There are also other types of sugar such as glucose (dextrose) and fructose (fruit sugar), popular additives in the food industry.
