Kochi: More people may be arrested today in the East Kambalam clash. A total of 156 foreign workers in Kitex were taken into police custody yesterday. Of these, 24 were arrested. The accused will be produced in court today.

A 19-member team led by Perumbavoor ASP Anuj Paliwal is investigating the incident. The investigation is progressing based on the statements of the workers who were present at the scene and the CCTV footage. Workers from Manipur and Nagaland clashed at a labor camp near the Churakot company around 11 pm on Saturday.

During the Christmas celebrations, there was a dispute between the workers over Carol, which culminated in a confrontation. When the police team reached the spot on information, the workers turned on them. Five police officers, including Kunnathunadu CI Shahjahan, were seriously injured in the attack. Three police jeeps were wrecked. One of them was completely destroyed by fire.
