Kilinochchi – A youth was stabbed to death in a clash between two groups traveling to Gautaimunai under the Poonakary police division.
The incident took place yesterday (Saturday) at 3.20 pm.
A group of 17 people have gone on a tour from Anaikottai to Poonakai Gautai Point.
Ranjan Niroshan (22), a resident of Somasundaram Road, Anaikottai, was attacked and injured when another group of tourists from Kurunegala boarded a boat there.
He was rushed to the hospital by ambulance but succumbed to his injuries.
The group is said to have escaped from Kurunegala by boat following the incident.
In this situation, last night Kilinochchi District Magistrate Judge S. Sivapala Subramaniam conducted investigations at the scene and went to the hospital and buried the body.
Poonakai police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
