The Rennes university hospital center (CHU) was the victim of a cyberattack on Wednesday evening. The management gave the alert to its 9,000 employees, alerting of an “ongoing cyberattack. Internet connection interrupted, no remote access or telecommuting, no messages sent or received from outside. Telephones maintained. No recall of professionals for the moment. On the establishment’s Twitter account, intended for patients and families, management said that the cyberattack had “no impact on the care” of patients.

According to Telegram, the cyberattack began with a breakdown of the intranet, around 6 p.m. Internal messaging was then blocked. It was unclear whether medical records could continue to be viewed by caregivers. Like Wednesday evening, the CHU website was inaccessible this Thursday morning shortly after 7 a.m.
According to Ouest-France, a crisis unit has been opened to ensure the continuation of activity of the hospital center. It would not be a blockage to demand the payment of a ransom as the Corbeil-Essonnes hospital experienced last summer, from whom a ransom of 10 million was requested. These intrusions into computer systems have forced the government to launch an enhanced digital security plan for healthcare establishments.
