The former Amiens coach signed up for two seasons with Sochaux.

FC Sochaux-Montbéliard (L2) formalized Thursday the arrival of new coach Oswald Tanchot, who has signed up for two seasons with the mission of bringing the Franche-Comté club back into the elite. The 49-year-old technician, former coach in Ligue 2 of Le Havre between 2016 and 2019 and of Amiens in 2020-21, succeeds Olivier Guégan, laid off on May 17 after a series of poor results.

Tanchot signed last season with Volos (Greek 1st div.), which he finally left after just one game due to an intrusive president and broken promises. Sochaux has been vegetating in L2 since its last relegation in 2014. This season, the Cubs, third on the evening of the 30th day on April 10, then collapsed to finish ninth in the championship.

The wait becomes long for the club held since the summer of 2019 by the Chinese group Nenking in the summer of 2019, which had reached the final of the L2 play-offs in 2021, lost against Auxerre on penalties. Reputed to be a hard worker, Tanchot will join the Doubs in the company of his deputy Abasse Ba. The pair should have fewer resources than Guéguan, the club having announced its desire to focus on its training center after two unsuccessful years despite the financial efforts of its shareholder.
