A guarantee control judge imposed a custodial measure in prison on Ronald Rodríguez Rozo, former deputy director of the National Protection Unit (UNP), as allegedly responsible for allocating vehicles to the service of the entity for drug trafficking activities.

The investigation reveals that the former official would have allowed the storage and transfer of 168 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride in an official van. The shipment was seized during a road control action carried out by the National Police in Totoró (Cauca) on December 10, 2022. For these events, Manuel Antonio Castañeda Bernal was captured and prosecuted at the time.

The evidence indicates that Rodríguez Rozo would be part of a criminal network that would be involved in at least three different events in which narcotics were mobilized in cars attached to the UNP. Apparently, it also authorized the use of the vehicles to transport singers and other personalities who were not assigned protection schemes.

In this sense, a prosecutor from the Specialized Directorate against Drug Trafficking charged him with the crimes of aggravated trafficking, manufacturing or possession of narcotic drugs; conspiracy to commit an aggravated crime and embezzlement by use, charges that the former deputy director Rodríguez did not accept.

The former official was captured by officials of the Technical Investigation Corps in a building in the town of Teusaquillo, in Bogotá. In the procedure, three cell phones, a hard drive, an electronic tablet and $60 million in cash were seized.
