Microsoft was working on a way to make Xbox Cloud Gaming completely autonomous
Microsoft has always commented that Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud) is an add-on to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. However, the company was working on a dedicated version of Xbox Cloud Gaming that would be completely autonomous and independent of the subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Unfortunately, according to Sarah Bond, prices are higher than expected and agreements with third parties have made this “independence” of xCloud no longer necessary.
“Operating costs are higher and Microsoft has signed agreements with partners that offer similar gaming services through the cloud”, Bond said.
