At least two people have died and another seven have disappeared after a fishing boat carrying more than twenty people was found partially submerged in the Philippine municipality of Baganga, in the province of Davao Oriental.

The Philippine Coast Guard has reported the updated casualty balance this Friday morning, according to the GMA News portal, which indicates that the state of the tide caused the accident.
The ship’s captain, Allan Donaire, explained during the previous day that a sudden change in sea conditions around midnight caused half of the ship to submerge. Of the 23 crew on board, 14 have been rescued after the emergency services responded to the incident together with other fishing boats that have participated in the search and rescue efforts.
