A theoretical approach to the phenomenon of child soldiers.- Irene Redondo Mula
Child soldiers are a global phenomenon reaching staggering numbers. Although the use of minors as combatants has existed since the dawn of humanity, international society has not been able to eradicate the practice.
This article tries to explain why there are still child soldiers, emphasizing the conditions and factors that favor their adherence to armed groups. To this end, three complementary perspectives will be offered: a first focused on the conflict, another of a sociocultural and economic nature, and a third dedicated to the point of view of the armed groups.
