Paris Air Show: soon an albatross wing on planes?

The plane of the future could look like… an albatross! Airbus UpNext, an entity of the European manufacturer which works on breakthrough technologies, is working on a new kind of wing, inspired by that of the bird. The aircraft manufacturer presents a model within the Paris Air Lab, a marquee bringing together the innovations of companies and manufacturers to push towards decarbonization of the sector, at the Paris Air Show. “We are working on the efficiency of our wings. Our goal is to reduce fuel consumption by 5 to 10% on a flight. This is a very significant percentage”, underlines Sébastien Blanc, technical director at Airbus UpNext.
