Since they arrived in Europe, KTM has not stopped surprising and being in the leading positions every weekend. The Austrians have found a good setup to be fighting for victory at every Grand Prix, or at least for podium positions. In the Assen quote, Jack Miller has been a bit under the radar for much of the first day, but has been able to finish in the top three.

The Australian pilot has recognized that it took longer than expected to find a good set-up on his RC-16 at a circuit like Assen, but he still hopes to be ranked in the top five in qualifying and thus suffer less in the races.

Miller has pointed out that he has enjoyed on the bike, although he has suffered especially in the afternoon due to the strong gusts of wind: “The weather was perfect today; however, the wind made the day a bit uninteresting in the afternoon. Especially going into turn 6 with the gusty wind, which was scary, and even more so with the strong wind. But the positive thing was that Turn 7 was a bit easier to drive. I have enjoyed”.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider has indicated that it has been difficult to manage a day with so much work on the Assen track, where he has enjoyed on the Dutch track: “Then we worked little by little to make the bike more comfortable for me in the one-hour session in the afternoon. So we were able to find a good time at the end. Driving on this track is always a lot of fun.”

Brad Binder’s teammate highlighted that on a circuit as fast as Assen it is always difficult to find a good set-up, but he was able to feel the speed at every point on the track: “First you have to get used to it in the first session, to all these corners. Turn 8 especially, when you’re on a fast lap and the bike is rubbing the ground, it’s a lot of fun.. Here you have a lot of speed in the corners, which is always a lot of fun.”

Looking ahead to the day on Saturday, he hopes to be classified among the first, and thus guarantee to be fighting in the sprint race for victory: “If we can be in the first two rows tomorrow, I’ll be happy. We want to work a little more on the rhythm to find that extra point for the sprint race.”

One of the images of the day was none other than Jack Miller taking Johann Zarco on his motorcycle, something that the Panel of Commissioners did not like and had to remind him of the rules. On this, the Australian wanted to influence that a stupid notification: “the damn stewards messaged me afterwards and the team saying we’re not really allowed to take anybody if it’s in pitlane during a live session. Pretty stupid if you ask me but oh well”, concluded Jack Miller.
