This Saturday morning, the 24th, a traffic agent was shot in the head when he towed a car that was parked in a prohibited place. The crime took place in São Luís, capital of Maranhão.
The victim is Wiryland de Oliveira, 40 years old. Shortly before the crime, the agent and two colleagues worked in the João Paulo neighborhood, close to a fair. According to the Military Police, the trio identified a Mercedes parked on Avenida São Marçal, in a prohibited area.

First, agents tried to look for the owner of the vehicle. They weren’t successful. So they decided to request the tow truck. It was at this moment that the suspect would have arrived at the scene and argued with Oliveira.
Witnesses said the man left the scene quietly, but returned with a gun and shot Oliveira in the head. The agent died instantly. The criminal tried to go after another inspector, who fled and entered a trade in the region.

Officials from the Homicide and Personal Protection Superintendence and the State Criminal Investigations Superintendence arrested Edgar Costa, responsible for the murder.

Civil Police manifest themselves on the case of the traffic officer murdered for towing a car
“A Civil Police of Maranhão sympathizes with the family of police investigator Clésio Santos Silva, due to the death of his son”, communicated the corporation, in a note. “The Judiciary Police is in solidarity with their family, friends and professional colleagues, in this moment of pain and consternation.”
The police informed that the murder weapon, a .38 revolver, was found in the backyard of a relative’s house on the coast.
