It’s the story of a little orphan bear who arrives one day by plane in an unknown country, far from his native forest, in search of a place to settle… But forget Paddington. This bear is called Tanie, and her case does not make anyone laugh.
Only a few weeks old, she was found by hunters on the side of a road in Latvia in early April. The Riga zoo collected her on April 5, but on a very temporary basis, because the Latvian authorities have a clear line in this kind of situation: they do not save the cubs. The experience of specialists from neighboring Estonia, which is home to several hundred bears, shows that “rescuing cubs abandoned by their mothers is ineffective, because bears fed by humans will never become bears again.
