The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated today Sunday that the crisis caused in Russia after the unprecedented challenge to his authority Vladimir Putin by Yevgeny Prigozhinmay not be over yet, and it is likely to take weeks or months to stabilize.

In particular, he characterized the case in question as an “internal issue” of Russia, stressing that “we have not yet seen the last act of this crisis”.

The head of US diplomacy also said it may be too early to know what the future holds for Wagner’s fighters.

According to the American newspapers New York Times and Washington Post, the US intelligence services already had information from mid-June about armed action planned by Prigozhin.

There were “enough indications to be able to tell the leadership [των ΗΠΑ] that something is going on,” the Post reported, citing an unnamed US official. “So I think they were ready for it.”

While it is unclear exactly when the United States first learned of the plan, intelligence officials held briefings Wednesday with administration and defense officials, according to the New York Times.
