At the same time, he was satisfied with the fact that he played good matches, came out victorious from a difficult situation and can return home with a medal.

When asked how important the individual competition was before the team competition, which is included in the Olympic qualification, he responded that what is important is relative.

“I started this race paying full attention and trying to achieve the best possible result,” he emphasized.

In fencing, the European Championship in individual numbers was held last week in Plovdiv, and the individual numbers of the EJ in Krakow are not even included in the Olympic qualification total. On the other hand, the team competitions that start on Wednesday will be European competitions.

Silver medalist Flóra Pásztor

Flóra Pásztor won a silver medal in the women’s dagger on Sunday at the Krakow-based European Games.

During the group matches, he won five aces and lost one, so he entered the field for the first time in the second round on the incomplete board of 64. In the elimination stage, he reached the semi-finals by defeating Swedish, Austrian and Polish opponents, which already meant a certain medal for him. For the final, he fought with Gili Kuritzky from Israel, and by controlling the ace throughout, he easily surpassed his opponent.

In the final, she faced the Polish Julia Walczyk-Klimaszyk, who saw off Kata Kondricz in the round of 16. The Hungarian fencer gradually pulled away, leading to 14-7, from here the Hungarian fencer was able to catch up to 14-11, and Walczyk-Klimaszyk gave the next point.

There were many missing in the women’s dagger field, with one exception, the competitors of the major nations of the discipline – Italian, French, German – did not compete individually, and Flóra Pásztor used the opportunity confidently all day, winning the 13th medal of the Hungarian delegation and the fourth silver at the European Games.

I came here wanting to make the most of myself. For us, our team competition is important, as is the European Championship, but of course I’m very happy that I was able to stand up as an individual

– said Pásztor after the final, in which he believed that his opponent “added more with his feet”, he was physically better.

“I knew the Polish girl, we fight a lot together, it’s always one-on-one matches, we’re close to each other, and I usually win anyway,” he explained why he felt a little disappointed after the final. At the same time, he called his opponent one of the best in the world, according to him, he is “brutally tough” both physically and technically, his fencing is just “lying”, that’s why he can hang with him.

In fencing, the European Championship in individual numbers was held last week in Plovdiv, and the individual numbers of the EJ in Krakow are not even included in the Olympic qualification total. On the other hand, the team competitions starting on Wednesday will be European competitions.
