The international pillar Mohamed Haouas met this Monday morning with the sentencing judge at the Montpellier judicial court following his conviction at the end of May to one year in prison without penalty of imprisonment for domestic violence. “We are going to make a request for parental parole,” said his lawyer, master Gallix, after the meeting, which took place behind closed doors.

“The other possibility is the installation of an electronic bracelet which is more restrictive insofar as it will be difficult to play rugby with it”, continued the lawyer. The decision is expected after the summer after a new adversarial debate. Among the arguments that the rugby player’s Montpellier lawyer intends to put forward: “parental authority has not been withdrawn from him, he continues to live with his wife and he alone brings income into the household – nearly €25,000 per month – to pay in particular the 5500€ of credits and all the rest”, his wife no longer working.

Decision of the prud’hommes this Monday in Clermont

According to master Gallix, the judge would be “fairly favorable to Mohamed Haouas continuing to play rugby”. The international player would also have received proposals from several clubs according to his advice: “one from the top 14, two from Pro D2 and clubs who want to go back to the Top 14”. Agen and Biarritz would be in the running, according to master Gallix. “Mohamed has also undertaken to resolve his problem of violence”, adds his lawyer and to “understand why he had this reaction, in particular on May 30”.

Finally, the question of the territorial jurisdiction of the judge will also arise, adds the lawyer, determined according to the domicile of the person. “The judge asks me to keep her informed of the sporting future of Mohamed Haouas because, in office, it will no longer be the Montpellier judge who will be competent. “Next step, the decision of the labor court of Clermont-Ferrand this Monday afternoon and, this Friday, the decision of the criminal court in a case of willful violence in a Montpellier bakery dating back to 2014.
