After the green light in the USA for the production and sale of artificial chicken meat, farmers’ markets sign a great global alliance to stop a dangerous drift that threatens healthy nutrition and agriculture in all countries.

The initiative as part of the Summer Fancy Food was promoted on the occasion of the first approval for the marketing in supermarkets and restaurants in the United States of new cell-based foods of chicken meat produced in the laboratory granted to the Upside Food company by the State Department of Agriculture (USDA) after the go-ahead obtained in November 2022 from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Upside Foods’ test-tube chicken becomes the first synthetic food sold in supermarkets and restaurants in the United States and should soon be followed by the production of Good Meat, which had received FDA approval in March this year but not marketing authorization by the State Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The World Farmers Markets Coalition is one of ten FAO programs selected under the Food Coalition project. The founding organizations are Coldiretti and Fondazione Campagna Amica for Italy, the FMC for the USA, Grønt Marked for Denmark, and Bondens Marked for Norway. Among the countries involved and whose associations will join on the occasion, there are the USA, Australia, Japan, Canada, Chile, Ghana, England, just to name a few. A reality that involves 250,000 farmers and families. The President of Coldiretti Ettore Prandini, the Director of Cmpagna Amica and of the World Farmers Coalition Carmelo Troccoli and the President Richard McCharty will be present.
