The Aprilia Caponord 1200 was a motorcycle that adapted to any situation, be it on the highway, in the city or on dirt tracks. Withdrawn from the Noale catalog at the end of 2017, Its engine was a 1,197 cc 90º V-twin that delivered 125 hp at 8,250 rpm and a torque of 115 Nm at 6,800 rpm, the same mechanical heart as the Dorsoduro 1200, but with more advanced electronics that included three driving modes: Rain, Touring and Sport.

The cycle part was also up to par, with a tubular steel and aluminum chassis, a fully adjustable 43mm Sachs inverted fork and an adjustable lateral monoshock. The brakes were signed by Brembo with 320 mm floating discs at the front and 240 mm at the rear, with radial monobloc four-piston calipers at the front and one at the rear.

The entry into force of the Euro4 regulations prompted the premature goodbye of the great Noale maxi-trail, and now that Aprilia has rescued its more off-road side with the recently presented Tuareg 660, in Italy there are already rumors about the possible return of the Caponordyes, with a new engine, an aesthetic more in line with the RS models and significantly superior technology to that offered by the 1200 cc twin-cylinder version.

The German magazine Motorrad has published a render made by the digital artist Kardesign which anticipates what could be the future Aprilia Caponord V4, a model that would take advantage of the four-cylinder engine of the Tuono V4 which, in turn, derives from the impressive mechanical heart of the RSV4 superbike, where this same block develops more than 215 hp .

Actually, Aprilia would offer something very similar to what we can already find in the catalog of another Italian manufacturer, Ducati, whose 170 hp Multistrada V4 uses an engine we first saw in the Panigale V4Of course, with some changes and a larger displacement in the case of the ‘Multi’ to modify the character of the Desmosedici Stradale engine and adapt it to a more touristic concept, daring even with off-road.

If Aprilia has the same mechanical configuration as that already contemplated in your Tuono V4, lThe new four-cylinder Caponord would have a 1,077 cc engine and 175 hp of power with a more than generous torque of 121 Nm, a power plant that more than meets the requirements of the current Euro5 regulations.

Kardesing imagines a Caponord V4 with an updated image, reminiscent of the aesthetics of the RS rangebased on the same tubular chassis that we previously saw on the Caponord 1200. In Noale they could offer this maxi-trail in two versions, the first focused on a majority use on asphalt -with a configuration of 17″ wheels-, and another more designed for adventure and off-roading that would give rise to traditional spoked wheels, highlighting the 19″ front measurement.

At the moment, the possible arrival of a Caponord V4 is not confirmed by Aprilia. The Noale firm has been slowly expanding its catalog of motorcycles for some timeand launches such as the RS 660 or the Tuareg 660 have undoubtedly revitalized their sales and have allowed the Italian brand to once again poke its head outside the scooter segment, where it has always enjoyed great success.

And in a market like the current one, where maxi-trails rack up tens of thousands of sales each year, the entry of a well-equipped Caponord V4 at a consistent price would certainly be very welcome news for all Noale fans.
