Events unfold at a disconcerting speed. For some time everyone had been witnessing an escalation of the conflict between Yevgeny Prigozhin and the leaders of the Russian army and marveled at how Putin could tolerate such a situation. But let’s not forget that the Wagner commanded by Prigozhin was called into question when the Ukrainian army successfully carried out an offensive and the fighting for the conquest of Bakhmut began. Prigozhin then received carte blanche to recruit mercenaries in penal colonies. Bakhmut’s capture cost a huge number of casualties, and Prigozhin blamed it on corrupt army commanders. Putin hoped to manage these forces while staying above the fray. But he miscalculated about him.

Prigozhin continued to launch attacks on top military officials and the defense minister, dishing out insults left and right. In response to the request to submit to the army, Prigozhin went out of his way and sent an ultimatum. And he proved all the seriousness of his intentions by occupying Rostov-on-Don and approaching Voronezh. Even if Lukashenko managed to convince Prigozhin to interrupt the march of justice towards Moscow, it is still a testimony of a system of government that is starting to give way. a profound internal crisis that demonstrates the weakness of Putin’s regime.

This chaos, this military uprising, however, is to Ukraine’s advantage: with a similar crisis going on in the rear, the front cannot succeed. It is no coincidence that the joke of the day was: Prigozhin is advancing too slowly towards Moscow. And it’s not about the Swan Lake Tchaikovsky, but about the Twilight of the gods. Wagner’s or Wagner’s?
