Kolkata,

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee has accused the central government of freezing the bank accounts of Mother Teresa charities operating in India.

In a post posted on her Twitter page today, Mamata was shocked to hear on Christmas that the federal government had frozen all bank accounts of Mother Teresa’s charities operating in India.

22 thousand patients and staff are left without food and medicine. Although the law is very important, it should not be compromised in humanitarian efforts.

In this case, are the bank accounts of the Mother Teresa charity operating in India frozen? The Central Government has given an explanation.

In a statement issued by the Union Home Ministry,

The federal government has not frozen the accounts of any of the charities founded by Mother Teresa. The bank, meanwhile, told the central government that the charity had asked State Bank of India to freeze their bank accounts.

Meanwhile, an application to extend the registration of the Mother Teresa charity under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act on 25 December 2021 was rejected. The charity did not meet the eligibility requirements of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act and the Foreign Contribution Regulation Rules. Thus, the application for renewal of registration with that charity has been rejected.

The registration for the Mother Teresa charity closes on October 31. However, like other charities, the charity’s registration license has been extended until December 31, 2021, as the charity’s renewal application is pending.

However, the renewal application was rejected as the charity was involved in negative activities.
