Four Argentine teams close their participation in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores and the Sudamericana on Tuesday. River and Patronato for one tournament, and San Lorenzo and Tigre for the other, will take the field with a lot at stake.
With a home victory against The Strongest, Demichelis’s team will qualify for the round of 16 and can even aspire to win Group D of the Libertadores (for that, they would need Sporting Cristal to also beat Fluminense in Brazil). Patronato, for its part, only aspires to be third and get into the South American playoffs: to achieve this they must beat Atlético Nacional in Colombia and Melgar lose to Olimpia in Paraguay.
For the South American, meanwhile, San Lorenzo must beat Estudiantes de Mérica at home and Palestino lose to Fortaleza (they have already won the zone) in Chile. And also, discount the goal difference with the Chileans (today, the Cyclone has -2 and Palestino +1). Tigre, for his part, has already secured a place in the playoffs and to snatch first place from San Pablo he must thrash him in Brazil.
