The credit granted to people in the country expanded 11.1% in May of this year compared to the same month of 2022, an advance influenced by the greater loans of this modality in soles that grew at an interannual rate of 11.9%, the Central Bank indicated today. of Reserve (BCR).
In said month, loans to individuals rose 0.9% per month, the twenty-third month of consecutive growth.
In this group, consumer loans increased 14.9% in May compared to the same month last year, favored by the year-on-year increase in loans of this modality in soles by 15.5% and in dollars by 5.6%. Comparing May to April, consumer credit advanced 1.1%.
By segments, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru indicated that vehicle credit had a year-on-year expansion rate of 18.7% in May. In monthly terms it rose 1.1% in that month.
Credit card loans had an interannual growth of 22.7% in May. The monthly increase was 1.9% in said month.
The interannual increase of the rest of consumer loans was 13.1% in May, with its monthly expansion rate being 0.9% in said month.
The dollarization of consumer credit stood at 5.4% in May 2023, similar to that of the previous month. With respect to the level observed in May 2022, dollarization decreased by 0.5 percentage points.
