The composition of the new Government was announced after the June 25 elections. New Democracy remained in the Government, but we will have a change in the person of the Deputy Minister of Sports.
This specific position is now taken over by Yiannis Oikonomou who will succeed Lefteris Avgenakis.
This is Giannis Oikonomou
Yannis Oikonomou was born in Lamia in 1973. He is a graduate of the Plant Production Department of the Agricultural University of Athens. He also holds a master’s degree in Global Political Economy from the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of Peloponnese. Until 2019, he was active professionally and entrepreneurially in the food sector.
In the 2019 National elections, he was elected Member of Parliament for Fthiotida with New Democracy. From January 2021 until August of the same year, he served as Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food, responsible for Common Agricultural Policy issues.
Yannis Oikonomou from August 2021 assumed the duties of deputy minister in addition to the Prime Minister and Government Representative. He is married to Angeliki Zorbalas and they have a son, Dimitris.
