BBVA Be Yourself will celebrate LGTBIQ+ Pride Day

BBVA Be Yourself is the intrapreneurship project developed to deepen LGTBIQ+ diversity within the ‘blue bank’.

This working group was formed at the end of 2018, and in these years, it has managed to create programs and initiatives with messages that have permeated all of the bank’s activity. A path that has led to turning BBVA into a benchmark, positioning the bank as a company at the forefront of diversity and inclusion policies in LGTBIQ+ matters

BBVA’s commitment to LGTBIQ+ diversity and inclusion in all its forms materialized in 2019 with the incorporation of the entity to the Business Network for LGTBIQ+ Diversity and Inclusion (REDI) and support for the United Nations Standards of Conduct for Companies against discrimination against LGTBIQ+ people. Adherence to these principles, which ensure the rights of the collective in the workplace, implies a commitment that involves guaranteeing equal treatment and activating measures that detect possible discrimination related to the identity or sexual orientation of employees. Precisely, in 2021 BBVA agreed to the presidency of REDI for three years.

BBVA Be Yourself is focused on three areas: working on the company’s diversity policies on LGTBIQ+ matters, creating accompaniment and mentoring programs for people who need support and cultivating an inclusive corporate culture. During its five years of life, different representatives of the entity have participated in external forums and talks for employees during LGTBIQ+ Pride Day, the Lesbian Visibility Day or the International Transgender Day of Remembrance. A process of growth that began with specific training in unconscious biases, in the analysis of all processes of interaction with people (job offers, selection interviews), to eliminate any type of discrimination; Yet the incorporating elements of inclusive language in all our communications.
