FEDERAL EQUIP SCIENCE PROGRAM: CHACO WILL RECEIVE SEVEN EQUIPMENTS FOR MORE THAN ONE MILLION DOLLARS FOR RESEARCH

The equipment will be assigned to the UNNE, the UNCAUS, the UTN, CONICET Nordeste and the local headquarters of INTA. The application and coordination was in charge of the Chaco Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Chaco will receive seven technological equipment for a total amount of 1,070,099 dollars through the federal Equipar Ciencia program, which will be allocated to the National University of the Northeast (UNNE), the Chaco Austral University (UNCAUS) and the National Technology University (UTN), CONICET Northeast and the local headquarters of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA). This was confirmed by the president of the Chaco Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation (ICCTI) Juan Martín Fernández who participated in Buenos Aires in the announcement of this third edition of the program by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Daniel Filmus.

“ICCTI played an important role in promoting the application of science and technology organizations in the province, we coordinated and established priorities according to the strategic vectors for the development of Chaco,” Fernández said.

The awarded equipment will allow the characterization of materials and the use of by-products from agro-industry. Also, the environment will benefit through equipment for the management of water and effluents and will seek to improve people’s quality of life, based on the control of the presence of pesticides in food and water for human consumption. “These teams will allow analysis on multiple thematic fronts that today are not possible to carry out in the province and significant advances linked to priority areas such as Nanotechnology and Materials Science and Engineering,” added Fernández.

The objective of the national program is to strengthen the capacities of the institutions of the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation (SNCTI) through the acquisition of medium and large equipment. The investment for the entire country is 15,140 million pesos through funds approved by the Law on Financing the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation, Law 27,614 promulgated on March 12, 2021.

“While this program facilitates the acquisition of medium and large equipment, in Chaco we have provincial programs such as the REC “Repair, Equip and Build” that promotes or facilitates access to smaller equipment,” Fernández recalled and assured that this complements with training through doctoral, postdoctoral, mobility, “Chaco más i” scholarships and other lines of talent promotion in science and technology.

In this third call, 237 medium- and large-sized teams were awarded to 18 scientific and technological institutions throughout the country to generate more value and more quality science. For Chaco, the purchase of seven pieces of equipment was approved, which will be destined for five institutions of the scientific and technological system, for a total amount of $1,070,099.

UNCAUS will receive a Sol-Gel Colloidal Systems Characterizer (USD 315,444); the UNNE an Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (USD 119,411) and a Hot Wire Anemometry System at constant temperature with automatic calibrator (USD 107,868); and the UTN Frre Resistencia a GCMS Mass Spectrometer (USD 143,000). In addition, CONICET Nordeste will receive a HD Laser Scanner (USD 209,176) and INTA Chaco will receive a Laser System (USD 84,700) and a LED motorized trinocular microscope with stereoscopic magnifying glass and camera (USD 90,500).
