Kfar Kana, Nahaf and Majd Alkhrom canceled the Eid al-Adha (Holiday of the Sacrifice) events following the rising violence in Arab society. The head of the Kfar Cana council announced last week the cancellation of the holiday events in protest of the criminal violence. After the two murders in Nafah, the holiday procession was also canceled in Majd al-Khorum.

“There is no holiday atmosphere,” says Vail Moghrabi, head of the Ein Kiniya council, sadly. According to him, the Druze settlements in the Golan are calm now. The tools left the area. However, everyone is in tension for Sunday, when the work resumes.

Among the Druze, it is customary to fast in the ten days before Eid al-Adha. In the midst of the fasting days, the works to erect the turbines began, which caused a widespread protest and clashes with the police. “It’s hard for families to celebrate,” Moghrabi says. “The wounded are still in the hospital, and there are still people in custody.” Netanyahu met with the sheikh of Wafak Trif and announced that he is suspending the work to build the turbines until after the holiday.

Moghrabi says that in past years everyone celebrated, the village wore a holiday and hundreds came to visit. “Last year there were 2,000 visitors at the holiday in Ein Kinya alone,” he says. “I canceled the events this year because I was afraid that someone would get hurt. I don’t want anyone to get hurt. The last events left a scratch in our hearts.”
