If you lost your job and do not have a settlement, you should know that there are many document options to replace it, in case you want to collect Unemployment Insurance.

In this note we review which documents you can use instead of the settlement. This information is based on data provided by the Unemployment Fund Administrator (AFC) of Chile.

The settlement is an essential document that validates the end of a labor relationship and facilitates the collection of unemployment insurance. However, if you do not have it, there are other ways to prove the end of your employment relationship and access this benefit.

Here is a complete list of the documents that you can use as alternatives to the settlement to request unemployment insurance, according to the AFC:

-Letter of dismissal: issued and signed by the employer.

– Proof of dismissal letter: issued by the Labor Department.

-Letter of resignation: signed by the worker and ratified by a minister of faith.

-Letter of mutual agreement: signed by the worker and the employer, ratified before a minister of faith.

-Certificate of termination of employment relationship issued by the Labor Inspectorate.

-Electronic affidavit, issued by the Labor Department.

-Letter of self-dismissal or indirect dismissal: signed by the worker.

To request unemployment insurance without termination, you can go to the AFC offices. However, the AFC recommends doing it online through its Virtual Branch. You only have to enter with your Unique Code or AFC Code, select “Insurance collection” and then “Start collection request”.

During this process, you must attach the document that supports the termination of your employment relationship. Once you do, you will be able to see a simulation of the payment, the amounts and the collection dates. The last step is to confirm the transfer data, providing the details of the bank account where the insurance will be deposited.
