The former president of the United States, Donald Trump (2017-2021), made sexist comments about the appearance of his daughter Ivanka and talked about “what it would be like to have sex with her”, as described in his new book by former Homeland Security official Miles Taylor, who worked in his Administration.
“Blowback: A Warning to Save Democracy from the Next Trump” was released this Wednesday in excerpts by Newsweek magazine and in it Taylor describes Trump’s “blatant sexism” towards women in his government, from low-level aides to secretaries of cabinet.
Taylor, who worked under Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen, is known for being the anonymous author of a column published in September 2018 by The New York Times. In that text, he revealed an alleged internal “resistance” effort against Trump by a group of officials determined to “frustrate part of his initiatives and his worst inclinations.”
As Taylor writes in the book, the worst part of Trump’s behavior was his lewd comments about his own daughter. “Aides said he was talking about Ivanka Trump’s breasts, her butt and what it would be like to have sex with her, comments that once led John Kelly to remind the president that Ivanka was her daughter,” Taylor explains. .
Kelly, who was White House chief of staff from 2017 to 2019, later told the same story to Taylor “with visible disgust,” adding that Trump was “a very, very evil man.” The former official recalls that in his meetings with the then-president and Kirstjen Nielsen, Trump called her Homeland Security secretary “honey” and “sweetness” and “criticized her makeup and her outfits.”
Following one of those rude comments, Taylor says Nielsen whispered to her, “Trust me, this is not a healthy workplace for women.”
Another of the women who suffered from Trump’s sexism was Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the current governor of Arkansas and at that time a spokeswoman for the White House. During an Oval Office meeting, Trump thought he saw her in the adjacent room, but she turned out to be one of her personal assistants. “Oops,” Trump responded, according to Taylor. “I was going to say, ‘Man, Sarah, you’ve lost a lot of weight!’
Taylor believes that Trump has not changed and fears that a second term for the former president could be much worse, who is the favorite in the polls to win the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential election.
Speaking to Newsweek, Taylor called Trump “a pervert” who “has normalized derogatory comments toward women.” The former official sees “incredible” that he could be elected president again.
Taylor’s new book will go on sale on July 18 and is added to another of Taylor’s critical books against Trump, A Warning (2019), published under the authorship of “Anonymous”.
