It has long accompanied the daily life of the French, forced to take out their smartphone and show their health pass to enter the cinema, a restaurant or many other public places. The TousAntiCovid application, launched in June 2020 under the name “Stop Covid” before being improved and renamed six months later, is “pausing” this Friday, June 30 to “think about the future”, indicates the Ministry of Health this Thursday. Unofficially, it does look like an end.

“We thank all the users of TousAntiCovid for their trust, their contribution to the management of the pandemic, but also for your feedback on the application which has helped us to improve and adapt it during these three years”, perhaps we read on the page dedicated to “TAC”. “We had always said that when the health crisis was behind us, we would stop this kind of tool”, justifies one of the actors in the file. The expiry date of the system on which TousAntiCovid is based, provided for by decreewas anyway set for this Friday.

Application “frozen”

Concretely, TousAntiCovid will remain accessible to the general public. It will even still be downloadable in the application stores. You can still store your vaccination certificate there (necessary for traveling to one of the – very few – countries that still impose it), consult epidemic indicators until the end of June, etc. However, the app will no longer be updated. It will be “frozen” in a way. Internally, some had even pleaded to remove it from application stores.

Initially launched to declare itself positive and prevent our contact cases, TousAntiCovid (ex-StopCovid) was mainly used to fill in its travel certificates and then store its health or vaccination pass there. In recent months, very few people used it.
