The Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR), together with the National Civil Police (PNC), carried out an operation with which it was possible to capture the arrest of six members of the Barrio 18 gang for the crimes of Aggravated Extortion and Illegal Limitation of the Free Circulation.
“During the early morning, the FGR together with the PNC carried out an operation to capture gang members from Barrio 18, accused of Illegal Limitation of Freedom of Movement and Aggravated Extortion committed in Cuscatlán,” the institution reported.
Among the cases that occurred between February and April of this year, one of the victims received beatings and threats to make him leave his home, in a period of 3 months. They demanded $1,500 from another victim, in exchange for not taking his life.
“During the operation, raids were carried out in Santa Cruz Michapa and Cojutepeque and cash and cell phones have been seized. These subjects will be presented before the corresponding courts in the next few hours,” said the FGR.
