Cinema, the twentieth edition of the Tuscia Film Fest is underway

From Salvo Ficarra and Valentino Picone to Giuseppe Fiorello; from Luca Guadagnino to Marco Bellocchio, Gianni Amelio and Roberto Andò; from Barbora Bobulova to Francesca Calvelli. These are some of the guests of the twentieth edition of the Tuscia Film Fest which will start from Friday 7 to Saturday 15 July in the arena of Piazza San Lorenzo – the heart of the capital of Tuscia – and then move to some of the most suggestive locations in the province of Viterbo until 9 September.

Screenings and meetings, readings, concerts, exhibitions. Here is the summer of cinema 2023 of the Tuscia Film Fest. Starting in Viterbo, in front of the cathedral and the papal palace, with Ivano De Matteo who will present his latest work Mia on Friday 7 July; Saturday 8 will be Barbora Bobulova, fresh winner of the Silver Ribbon, to accompany Il sol dell’avvenire by Nanni Moretti; Riccardo Milani and Grazie Ragazzi will close the first weekend of the show on Sunday 9th.

Giuseppe Fiorello will be in Viterbo on Monday 10 July – together with the two young protagonists of the film Samuele Segreto and Francesco Pizzurro who will receive the Pipolo Tuscia Cinema award – with his first work Stranizza d’amuri; Tuesday 11 here is Gianni Amelio and The Lord of the Ants; The eight mountains by Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch – winner of the David di Donatello 2023 for best film – will be screened on Wednesday 12.

On Thursday 13 July, fresh from his success at the Nastri d’argento, Marco Bellocchio returns to the Tuscia Film Fest with Rapito; with him Francesca Calvelli, editor of the film that will receive the I mestieri del cinema award. Friday 14 will be the turn of Walter Veltroni who will present the public When, a feature film based on his novel of the same name. Saturday 15th, closing with Roberto Andò, Salvo Ficarra and Valentino Picone who will meet the public in Piazza San Lorenzo at the end of the screening of La Stranezza.

The third week of July will be dedicated to the inauguration of two exhibitions. Sorrentino’s Stories. Photographs by Gianni Fiorito will tell the career of the Neapolitan director through fifty-six shots; from L’uomo in più to It was the hand of God. It will be hosted from Sunday 16 July 2023 to Sunday 7 January 2024 by the Geological Museum of Palazzo Alemanni in Civita di Bagnoregio.

On Friday 21 July at the Museo dei Portici in Viterbo here is Tuscia, the land of cinema: an exhibition that will tell the story of the relationship between the big screen and the province of Viterbo with photos and videos. On the same day, again in Viterbo, the renewed panels on cinema locations will be inaugurated and the book La Tuscia nel cinema by Franco Grattarola will be presented. The two-day Tuscia, the land of cinema that will take place in Soriano nel Cimino on 25 and 26 July will also be dedicated to the relationship between the province of Viterbo and Italian and international cinema.

Saturday 5 August at 21 the cinema will arrive for the first time in the Sacro Bosco di Bomarzo thanks to the special screening of Bones and all by Luca Guadagnino who will be the guest of the evening in the arena set up in the Temple area. The event is included in the program of the In Arte Vicino festival – organized by the Sacro Bosco di Bomarzo on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the birth of Vicino Orsini, creator of the Park – and will include a walk/story at 7 pm during which Orsini will be told through his texts and correspondence which will be read by Stefano Fresi.

Wednesday 23 August – thanks to the partnership with the Consorzio Teatro Tuscia – appointment at the Roman theater of Ferento in Viterbo with the concert The Magical Music of Harry Potter by the Magical Film Orchestra. The summer of cinema of the Tuscia Film Fest will end from 7 to 9 September in the courtyard of the Palazzo dei Priori in Viterbo. After the 2022 appointment dedicated to Pasolini, here is Federico and I. Three protagonists of Italian cinema will remember Fellini on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the great director’s death.

The pre-sales of the evenings in Piazza San Lorenzo in Viterbo and of the special screening of the Sacro Bosco di Bomarzo are available on the Tuscia Film Fest website and at the physical pre-sales of the Museo Colle del Duomo and the Museo dei Portici in Viterbo.
