The 29-year-old Frenchwoman showed no obvious signs of injury, but she was wearing a bandage on her upper right arm.
Four days before the start of Wimbledon, where she had reached the round of 16 last year, the French N.1 therefore stops at the gates of the last four like last week in Berlin.
Kasatkina will play Friday against the Italian Camila Giorgi (67th) or the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko (17th).
