UCI President David Lappartient was elected President of the French Olympic Committee (CNOSF) on Thursday, inheriting a post vacant since the resignation of Brigitte Henriques on May 25, which puts an end to a crisis of more than a year and a half to a year from the Paris Olympics.

The mayor of Sarzeau, member of the IOC, was elected with 80% of the votes (36 against 8) by the board of directors against Emmanuelle Bonnet-Oulaldj, the co-president of the Sports and Gymnastics Federation of Labor (FSGT). The mandate of the new president will have to be confirmed by a vote of a general assembly scheduled for September 13.
