Science Festival ends this weekend with activities in Hernandarias

Asunción, IP Agency.- The II International Science Festival of Paraguay will carry out a series of activities in the department of Alto Paraná from this Friday, July 30, to Sunday, July 2, closing the week of meetings and conferences.

Tacuru Pucu beach will be the seat of the “Star Party Hernandarias 2023”, a camp for astronomical observation with the support of Itaipu Binacional.

The three-day event is free for all citizens and there will be a shuttle service from the entrance to the beach to the event site. The first observation day will be on Friday the 30th at 9:45 p.m.

The visit to the lighting of the Itaipu dam is also contemplated, on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

On Saturday, the talks “Contemporary Astronomy: the relationship between the Earth and the Sun” and “Black holes in the Universe” will be held, starting at 08:30 at Tacurú Beach and will culminate with the astronomical observation of the sun at noon.

The program continues with lectures on space science studies in the country, introduction to astrophysics, among other topics. These presentations will feature special guests such as Dr. Benjamín Barán, computer scientist and winner of the National Science Award, and Leandro Abaroa, astrophysicist and researcher at the Argentine Institute of Radio Astronomy.

The II International Science Festival of Paraguay is organized by Ciencias del Sur, the main means of scientific dissemination in the country and under the auspices of the Museum of Sciences (MuCi), the Institute of Pathology and Research, the Universidad Iberoamericana, the Universidad Comunera and the Private University of the East.

They are supported by the Argentine Institute of Radio Astronomy, Itaipú Binacional, Astronomy Paraguay, TransferTeQ, AstroMinga, of the city of Minga Guazú and the AstroScience and Technology Club of Ciudad del Este.
