Every June 30, Guatemala commemorates Army Day, for this holiday, the population has the right to enjoy a day off. However, due to the Law that promotes internal tourism established in Decree 42-2010, this will be enjoyed on Monday, July 3.

WHY MONDAY AND NOT FRIDAY?
The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (Mintrab), recalled on social networks that the day on which the holiday must be enjoyed is Monday, July 3 and not tomorrow, June 30, as established by the Law that was reformed in 2018. This explains that when the day of the holiday falls on a Tuesday or Wednesday, it will be enjoyed on the immediately preceding Monday, if it occurs on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, it will be enjoyed on the immediately following Monday,” the Decree details.
Other holidays that Guatemalans will enjoy during the remainder of 2023, such as Independence Day, which will be on September 15, which will be Friday, which means another long weekend that the population will have.
It is worth mentioning that the holidays of May 1 and October 20 cannot be moved to other days, as established by Law.
DAY OF THE BANK EMPLOYEE
Although Bank Employee Day is commemorated every July 1, the Monetary Board (JM) authorized the closure of banks, branches and banking agencies, financial companies, insurance companies, storage companies and exchange houses this June 30.
As reported, it will be at the discretion of each financial institution, the provision of services, through agencies or special windows.
