Sexist violence is left out of the agreement in Extremadura

The PP and Vox have disseminated the points and proposals of their pact for the coalition government of Extremadura, in which the far-right party will direct the Ministry of Forest Management and Rural World. This is how the proposals to combat sexist violence remain in the three autonomous pacts of the PP-Vox government:

Valencian Community: “Intrafamily violence”

In the first agreement document, signed for the Government of the Valencian Community, the PP changes the concept of “macho violence”, which is never mentioned in the entire document, to that of “domestic violence”. “We will promote policies that will seek to eradicate domestic violence, especially those suffered by women and children, guaranteeing equality among all victims,” ​​read the text. The change, which has also been made in various town halls with pacts between the popular formation and the extreme right, aroused criticism.

Balearic Islands: “Violence against women” and “domestic violence”

After the recriminations, Abascal assured that his party does protect women. In the subsequent agreement to govern the Balearic Islands, a new concept appears: “Violence against women”. “Work will be done to eradicate from our community macho discourses, whether civil or religious, that promote or justify violence against women,” the agreement says. In the later point, however, the term “domestic violence” appears again.

Extremadura: “Violence against women”

Despite the fact that the PP campaign spokesman, Borja Sémper, had assured that the pact “expressly talks about sexist violence”, this is not the case. The agreement, very similar to the Balearic one, says: “We will defend the rights of families. We will work to eradicate sexist discourses from our community, whether in the civil or religious sphere, that promote or justify violence against women.” The concept of domestic violence is not mentioned in the document.
